Brookport Tornado Remembered

Dozens of people gathered in Brookport Monday to remember the deadly tornado that damaged the town one year ago.
Governor Pat Quinn was on hand for the unveiling of a memorial bench dedicated to the three victims of the tornado.  The Governor also announced that Brockport will receive more than $900,000 through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to aid in the recovery process.

"Our state has invested money because we believe in the people of Brookport and Massac County, and Illinois all across our state and it is important that we not forget anyone and we still may have some work to do in the recovery effort."

Family members of the victims were asked to ring the town bell at 2:17pm in remembrance of the lives that were lost.
