Next week the Boys And Girls Club Of Southern Illinois will operate as a remote learning site, as some area schools choose to begin their school year online.
While the Carbondale Elementary School District was planning on how to return to school, they partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois to help meet the students' needs.
Executive Director Tina Carpenter says when the district chose to start school in full remote learning mode, they knew they needed to be there for the kids.
“We could be open all day and be able to help the kids with their remote learning in the mornings and in the afternoon help with the ancillaries like music, art and P.E. as well as regular club programing.”
The club can accommodate up to 100 kids between two sites.
Everyone will be required to wear a mask, and do health surveys daily.
