Southern Illinois will play host to President Donald Trump on Saturday.
U.S. Rep. Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro), who is in a tight race for reelection, confirmed the visit Sunday.
The President will speak at Southern Illinois Airport on October 27 at 4:30pm. You can get more information and tickets to the event at this website.
Mr. Trump's visit brought mixed reaction on social media once the news was leaked late last week. Many supporters say they're excited to be able to see him in person, while opponents are planning protests and rallies in support of Democratic candidates on the ballot this November.
Recent polls show the race for the 12th Congressional District in southern Illinois is one of the closest in the nation - with Bost and Democrat Brendan Kelly neck-and-neck with just weeks to go before the election.
Bost, Kelly, and Green Party Candidate Randy Auxier will meet for a live debate on WSIU on Tuesday, October 23 at 7:00pm.
