Rod Blagojevich talks with reporters at the federal building in Chicago after being sentenced last Dec.

Rod Blagojevich's lawyers are working to meet a deadline to file what could be a 100-page appeal calling for the ex-governor's corruption convictions to be tossed or for his 14-year sentence to be reduced.

Monday's the deadline to file, but lawyers can ask for extensions. The appeal would come 16 months after the 56-year-old entered a Colorado prison.

Blagojevich attorney Lauren Kaeseberg (KAYS'-berg) says the appeal will be filed in Chicago's 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. She declined to comment on its content.

There were multiple motions after Blagojevich's trials. Those arguments are typically rolled into appeals. One was that the judge barred key wiretap evidence.

The case generated huge volumes of documents and Blagojevich's attorneys have been granted permission to submit a longer-than-usual appeal of some 100 pages.
