A Belleville man has pleaded guilty to aggravated discharge of a firearm.

The Jackson County State's Attorney says 29-year old Jeremy Spivey faces up to 15 years in prison.
In October 2017, a Carbondale police officer heard multiple gunshots in an alley behind a business in the 200 block of West Main.

When the officer arrived at the scene, he saw Spivey firing his weapon, fearing for his safety and others in the area, the officer shot Spivey twice. He was taken to a St. Louis hospital.

Witnesses told police Spivey was in a vehicle with his friends and a man in another vehicle called out to them. Spivey argued with him, pulled out the firearm and shot at the vehicle, which then fled the scene.

Spivey will be sentenced in February.
