The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois receives $35,000 From Banterra Bank

The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois received some support from Banterra Bank and local leaders say it couldn't come at a better time.

The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois received a $35,000 donation from Banterra Bank Friday.

Executive Director Tina Carpenter says now that they’re hosting remote learning this donation is a big help.

“Our expenses have increased with serving kids 10 hours a day instead of 4 to 5 hours a day in the fall during the school year and because of PPE and cleaning supplies.”

Part of the donation came from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago who created the Targeted Impact Fund to support charities in the state affected by COVID-19.

That grant awarded $20,000 and Banterra added an additional $15,000.

The donation will go to the club’s general funds for use on projects and providing a safe place for remote learning.
