March 2 is nationally recognized as Read Across America Day. It’s a day to focus attention and awareness on the importance of the role that reading plays in student achievement.
A recent book suggests a comprehensive approach that parents and teachers can use to foster the desire in our children to read. WSIU's Jeff Williams recently talked with education professor and author Ernest Morrell about the book he co-wrote. “Every Child a Super Reader: 7 Strengths to Open a World of Possible.” The book is available from Scholastic. Dr. Ernest Morrell is the Director for Minority and Urban Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
