Authorities Investigate A Shooting Incident in Rural Carbondale

Police Car and Lights

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting incident.

Deputies say they received a report of gunshots fired near the intersection of Reed Station Road and Dillinger Road in rural Carbondale just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.
They found evidence of gunshots being fired into and out of a residence in that area.

A short time later, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a rural Murphysboro residence reporting a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies and EMS personnel discovered a 25-year-old man had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation suggests the incidents may be related.

Anyone with information about them should contact the Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 618-684-2177.
