May is national foster care awareness month. One minister is helping supply foster kids with essentials.

Kay Kizer runs Kay’s Carryons, and she said her organization provides more than just luggage.

“I would say the number one thing that I do is give foster youth dignity, hope and respect by giving them rolling luggage that is filled with daily essential items, such as toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, brush,” Kizer said.

Without the luggage, Kizer said most foster youth transport their belongings in black trash bags. The suitcases give them something that is theirs and can move with them between homes.

To find out more about the project or donate luggage, visit Kay's Carryons on Facebook.
