The Waltonville and Woodlawn Fire Departments as well as the Jefferson Rural Fire Protection District are seeking help with some special supplies.
Members of each department recently completed an Active Shooter Training Program in Mt. Vernon. Now, they're asking for donations to purchase active shooter bags to help treat victims in a mass shooting situation.
Waltonville Fire Chief Jerry Newell says the bags are too costly for the departments to afford.
"They're over 400, almost $500 apiece. We've got Waltonville, Woodlawn and Jefferson Rural in on it. They've got probably 25 to 30 people already went through this course. So, we're looking for at least six to eight bags or ten bags per station."
Newell says the bags contain supplies to help treat shooting victims.
"You have a shooting victim that has an arm, leg and a chest shot, you'll need two tourniquets for each person, you could possibly need three tourniquets, or four, for each person. So, there's quite a bit that goes in that shooter bag."
Newell says anyone who would like to donate can contact the fire departments in Waltonville or Woodlawn or the Jefferson Rural Fire Protection District.
