The Illinois Veterans Home in Anna celebrated its 20th anniversary Monday.
The ceremony included remarks from State Department of Veterans Affairs director Rodrigo Garcia. Although this is the state's newest home, Garcia said it has proven to be a success thanks to everyone involved. The center has been home to more than 350 veterans since it opened.
State Senator Gary Forby - who was born in Anna - said veterans deserve a home like this because they helped insure our freedom, something we can truly appreciate as we see the unrest going on across the world today.
The Illinois Veterans Home in Anna has a staff of 90 full-and part-time nurses, nursing assistants and other professionals in providing skilled care and support to the home's residents. The home has a 50-bed nursing care capacity and twelve beds in six adjoining apartment-style units.
