Ameren Illinois Files for a Rate Decrease

Ameren Illinois customers may soon see a decrease on their monthly electric bills.

Spokesperson, Marcelyn Love, says the plan for the decrease was filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission Thursday.
"Each year, Ameren Illinois is required by state law to file an annual update to our delivery services rates. And so we are pleased that this year, beginning in January of 2020, customers will see a slight decrease on their bill."

Love says this will be the sixth decrease since 2011.

"Ameren Illinois filed for a decrease in our delivery services rate. This would mean that customers would begin to see about a dollar and thirteen cents savings on their monthly bill, beginning in 2020."

Ameren Illinois expects monthly electric bills to be lower in 2020 than they were in 2012 and that they'll remain below the 2018 national average.
