Ameren Illinois is helping a Williamson County organization that serves the needy.
The utility donated over five thousand dollars and nearly three thousand canned goods to the Herrin House of Hope on Wednesday.
Ameren says the monetary donation and canned goods are the result of a new collection initiative at the Marion Operating Center. The company pledged a baseline donation of 25-hundred dollars to the Herrin House of Hope and an additional dollar for each item collected by employees from November 6th through December 8th.
The food pantry plans to use the donation to replenish critical supplies and help feed those in need during the winter months.
