Ameren Admits Error in Letter Sent to Hundreds in Murphysboro

Logo

Ameren says it made an error in sending out a letter to nearly 900 customers in Murphysboro indicating the city was increasing its municipal utility tax rate.
On his Facebook page, Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens posted the affected customers will receive a letter from Ameren Illinois informing them of the error.

Ameren says the letters were sent out due to a programming error, and to be clear, the mayor says no such increase in the Municipal Utility Tax has been passed in Murphysboro.
