AFSCME Keeps Public Pressure on the Governor

Until further notice, Governor Pat Quinn's schedule is the union's schedule.
Members of AFSCME Council 31 picketed Wednesday morning outside a Springfield hotel, where Quinn was scheduled to speak to a convention. AFSCME regional director Jeff Bigelow says the union is committed to keeping public pressure on the governor by picketing his scheduled appearances.  Quinn did not show at the event. Bigelow says the union pressure is forcing Quinn to react by changing his schedule, but organizers of the Illinois Digital Government Summit said the Governor's participation was tentative. Quinn's office says the governor was never confirmed for the event.
