One lane of Interstate 57 northbound in Williamson County remains closed Friday morning, as crews will get back to work today clearing an accident scene from earlier this week.
A semi truck crashed along the interstate near milepost 58 Wednesday night. The scene was cleared enough to allow traffic to flow normally, but the truck remained until crews could safely remove it.
Those crews started work last night, closing one lane on the north-bound side of the highway. Traffic backups were reported, and the ramps from Route 13 in Marion onto I-57 north were closed to prevent cars and trucks from backing up onto that highway.
State Police suspended the cleanup late last night, and say work will begin again this morning - including the ramp closures - to restore the scene.
