5-Year-Old Girl Shot in Carbondale

A 5-year-old girl was shot in Carbondale Monday morning.

Police say at around 11:26 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of East Chestnut Street in reference to shots fired.
The Jackson County Ambulance Service treated her at the scene and later took her to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where doctors stabilized her.  The 5-year-old girl is currently at a St. Louis area hospital for further treatment and care.

Officers and detectives arrested three juvenile suspects located in the area. There is no additional suspect information at this time.
