Substantial changes to the requirements for cyber liability insurance is making it more difficult obtain.

At the Williamson County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, they learned about the changes they need to make to renew their cyber liability insurance policy.

The increase in cyber-attacks has led to underwriters requiring more levels of security in order to qualify.

Williamson County uses CDS Office Technology to protect their network and equipment.

Chief Information Technology Officer Josh Ditto says they’ve been hit hard over the last few months helping clients meet the new requirements.

“We've offered this training for awhile, but we've never implemented it just because of the cost. However, now they're really requiring that the cyber awareness training and the phishing simulations on your email accounts and things like that.”

Part of the requirements include employees having to retrain on cyber security awareness if they open a phishing link.
