Jackson County indictments, sentences announced

A Jackson County Grand Jury has indicted a Carbondale man on two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports the indictment against 45-year-old Kevin Mack results from an incident in Carbondale on January 8, 2020.

Criminal Sexual Assault is a Class 1 felony. If convicted, Mack could be sentenced from four to 15 years in prison.

He is currently in custody at the Jackson County Jail.

An incident from Halloween 2020 has led to an indictment against a Carbondale woman.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney 23-year-old Haley McNelly was indicted by a Grand Jury in Jackson County for one count of Criminal Sexual Assault.

If convicted, McNelly could be sentenced from four to 15 years in prison.

She is scheduled to make a first appearance in court on July 13.

A Makanda man has been indicted on three counts of Criminal Sexual Assault based on three separate incidents in Jackson County in 2021.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports 27-year-old Miguel Womac could be sentenced from six to 30 years in prison.

He has posted bond and is scheduled to make a first appearance before the court on Wednesday.

A Murphysboro man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of Burglary.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports 20-year-old Christopher Douglas was caught in the act of burglarizing S.I. Liquor Mart in Murphysboro on October 10, 2021.

Douglas ran from the police, but he was apprehended after a brief pursuit. He admitted to burglarizing the business and the police found Douglas’ backpack filled with stolen merchandise.

The court recommended Douglas be placed in a substance abuse treatment program during his incarceration.
