Formal Charges Filed in Carbondale Homicide Case

Carbondale Police and the Jackson County State's Attorney say an arrest has been made in connection with a homicide investigation dating back to September of 2020.

Police began investigating the disappearance and death of 41-year old Robin Renee Williams of West Frankfort on September 21st of last year. Her body was found in an abandoned home in the 600 block of East Park Street. At the time, the identified 44-year old Michael Lee Moore of Franklin County as suspect.

In January, Jackson County State's Attorney Joe Cervantez filed murder and domestic battery charges against Moore. A warrant was issued, and Moore was found in a jail in Florida on an unrelated charge.

In May of this year, Cervantez presented the case to a grand jury,, which returned an indictment charging Moore with Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Moore is now in the Florida prison system, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department is working with Florida to arrange extradition.
