Carbondale Police say officers used their crisis intervention training skills recently to de-escalate a situation involving someone dealing with a mental health crisis.
Friday afternoon, officers responded to a disorderly subject that was trespassing in the 500 block of East Main Street. Officers made contact with the man and determined he was suffering from a mental health crisis after observing erratic behavior. They also noted he was in possession of weapons.
The man would not comply and would not drop his weapons at first, but the officers say they were able to use minimal force to take him into custody and get him needed care.
