A California man has been arrested for an incident in Carbondale on Labor Day.

Police say Demareonte Jones of Sacramento, California is charged with home invasion, criminal damage to property and interfering with a 911 call.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of East Walnut Street at around 11:30 a.m. Monday in reference to a report of a home invasion and possible child abduction.

After arriving, officers learned that the non-custodial father of a child inside the residence had been in a dispute over the child with someone in the residence.  The man, now believed to be Jones, forced open a door and battered an individual inside the apartment. He then took custody of his child and left the area in a vehicle.

Jones was located within an hour in Carbondale. The child was not hurt.
