Bomb Threats at Two Local High Schools Prove to be Hoaxes

Sign

Authorities have determined a bomb threat at Herrin High School was not credible.

The Herrin Police Department says it was notified Monday that someone threatened to set off a bomb at the school Tuesday.
School officials identified a potential suspect before officers arrived.

The juvenile suspect was released into the custody of a parent.

The case is being sent to the Williamson County State's Attorney's Office with the recommendation the suspect be charged with disorderly conduct.

A juvenile is also a suspect in a bomb threat that proved to be a hoax at Johnston City High School.
