The City of Cape Girardeau's Historic Preservation Commission is out with its 2021 endangered building list

The list is highlighted by the Esquire Theater on Broadway, which closed in 1984, and on the same block, the Broadway Theatre, which was damaged by a fire in March.
The list also includes a three-story, U-shaped apartment building on Bellevue Street, which was built in 1913 and is believed to be the oldest apartment building in Cape Girardeau. And Juden School on Cape Rock Drive, built in 1854 and closed in 1960.

The goal of the list is to raise awareness of these buildings in the hopes that they may be saved.
