To celebrate Veteran's Day, Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion introduced the Trail of Heroes Tuesday.
Heartland spokesman Herby Voss says hundreds of flags are lining the sidewalk in front of the hospital.
"We've lined that with right around 600 American flags, so, 12x18 inch flags. Each of those flags have been sponsored by someone, either in honor of or in memory of, a veteran in their lives."
Voss says the flags represent veterans going back to the birth of the United States.
"We have folks with families here in southern Illinois that date back to the Civil War and the Revolutionary War. So, we've got flags in honor of those folks and then all the way up through current employees at Heartland Regional."
The flags will be on display 24 hours a day from now through Monday, November 12th.
The hospital auxiliary is accepting donations in the gift shop in exchange for sponsoring a flag in the Trail of Heroes.
