An organization focused on religious freedom is threatening a lawsuit against Southern Illinois Healthcare over its denial of religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
Liberty Counsel sent the letter to SIH on Wednesday, demanding exemptions for employees who claim their religious beliefs prevent them from getting the vaccine.
SIH leaders say a panel of doctors and spiritual care experts reviewed the exemption requests, and did grant some, but denied others.
The letter from Liberty Counsel gave SIH until 5:00 Thursday to grant the religious exemptions, and avoid a lawsuit. SIH says it stands by its decision.
