Both medical and non-medical volunteers are needed.

The Southern Seven Health Department is looking for volunteers to help with COVID vaccine clinics.

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Bobi Cavins said people don’t need to have medical experience to volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps.

“We have medical volunteers and we have non-medical volunteers. It’s just a group of volunteers that will help with emergencies, or natural or manmade occurrences, that the health department needs assistance with,” she said.

Non-medical volunteers can help out with tasks like setting up clinics, sanitizing the area, and traffic control. Volunteers with any type of medical experiences are also welcome, from nurses to veterinarians.

Volunteers must be over the age of 18, and there is no minimum time commitment. To sign up, call the Southern Seven Health Department at 618-634-2297. Many other counties are also seeking volunteers, so contact your local health department if you would like to help out.
