Red Cross Says Supplies are Steady, But Demand Increasing.

Despite the COVID-19 shutdown, the Red Cross says donors have been stepping up to donate blood.  Spokesperson Joe Zydlo says right now the blood supply is stable, thanks to the tremendous outpouring of donors  over the last two months.  Zydlo added demand for blood is increasing, because more hospitals are resuming elective surgeries.  While all blood types are needed, type O negative blood is especially needed, since that is the universal donor type. All CDC safety protocols will be followed at blood drives.  And Zydlo says you can set up an appointment by calling 1-800- RED CROSS or going to Red Cross Blood DOT org.
