Some people in Carterville may see their electric bill decrease now that the Hurricane Creek solar farm is online.
After months of construction the 20-acre Hurricane Creek community solar farm is complete.
7,000 solar panels will add 2 megawatts of electricity to the local power grid.
Head of External Affairs Barry Matchett says anyone in the Ameren territory can subscribe and save about twenty percent off their power bill.
“It allows the person to get the benefits of solar by subscribing to a solar project, in this case in Carterville and the power produced at the project directly offsets their electric bill on their home.”
Clearway Community Solar operate close to 100 community solar farms in five states with 19 in Illinois.
