Students return to school next month and school districts are making plans to keep everyone safe.
Vienna’s Grade School Superintendent Dr. Greg Frehner says face masks will be preferred, but not forced.
“We are going to align ourselves we think, with the official language of recommended and then certainly optional, so I think it's going to be a of a two word answer recommended, an optional recommended, but optional. There's not going to be any disciplinary action for a student chooses not to wear the mask and we're certainly going to support students who wear the mask as well as students who don't support the mask.
Vienna Public School District #55 has around 400 Pre-K to 8th grade students in one building.
The school board will vote on the final plan at its next meeting August 9th.
The district’s first day of school is August 12th.
