Touch Of Nature Expands Camps For Summer 2022

Touch of Nature

To help kids get more outdoor time SIU’s Touch of Nature has expanded their camps.

For more than 70 years Touch of Nature has been providing camps for people of all ages and abilities.

This year they decided to expand the camps to include younger kids and more day camps after seeing kids stuck at home during the pandemic.

Assistant Director of Outdoor Education and Recreation Brian Croft says they developed a camp for 4- to 7-year-old kids so they will get involved in the outdoors at an early age.

“Research says if you actually want to develop an infinity for the outdoors you need to have outdoor experiences when your young, so that’s why really to solve the problem we’re taking it back to the kids and saying cool we’re going to start at four years old and we’re going to provide you different experiences in the outdoors that hopefully will lead to better stewardship for the rest of their lives.”

All the camps are themed to fit with each age group.
