The Herrin City Library is offering students in the Herrin School district a helping hand.
People that live within the city limits of Herrin are allowed a free library card.
But there are some people that live in the school district, but outside of the city limits.
The Herrin City Library, the City of Herrin and the school district made an agreement to let those students have a free library card through the school year.
Library Director Susan Mullens says she didn’t want student to fall in a gap without access to resources.
“It’s to help students out during this pandemic time when they’re doing the home learning and blended learning, so I thought it would be a good idea to do something to assist with that.”
Students will have access to an extensive collection of current digital books, magazines and research data bases.
The library is limited to eight people at a time with a 30-minute time limit from rises in COVID-19 cases.
Patrons can also reserve materials online for curb side pick up.
