John A Logan College will resume on campus classes today (Monday) after an electrical system failure shut the campus down last week.
John A Logan College temporarily moved all of their classes online to assess the damage from a fire on campus on the first day of the semester.
Now, leaders say, in-person classes will resume on the Carterville Campus.
JALC Director of College Relations Dr. Steve O’Keefe says the affected area will be sealed off for repairs and could take a while.
“They had about a hundred and seventy thousand square feet of the campus was affected in some shape or form, so it was mostly smoke damage.”
Part of that area included advisement, financial aid, bursar, and many other student service offices that have been relocated.
The employees switched to working remotely and kept registering students through the day.
Administrators say students need to check all forms of communication the college utilizes to be aware when they’re required to be on campus.
