A Washington County business marked its 40th anniversary Thursday - thanking the community for its support over the past four decades.

NOTS Logistics CEO Andy Kirchner has been a part of his family's business since it began in 1981.

"It's truly rewarding. Because it's always going to be there. It's always going to be something that you can improve upon, too. There's always new involvement, new technologies, new ways to do things out there. It's a wonderful industry to be in - and one out of 12 people in Illinois works in the supply chain industry."

NOTS is based at the crossroads of Interstate 64 and Highway 127 in Nashville. While it started as a trucking company, it's now a business logistics organization that includes warehouses, shipping and receiving, business development and more.

"You know, it takes a community to come together. And the community has supported us. From every vendor, every person that we use and work with, to every professional person that comes in here. We feel strongly about giving back to the community - and we feel an obligation. Because we couldn't do it without them"

Kirchner says they're in it for the long-haul, too. The company employs more than 600 people in three states.
