Learning in Retirement: "The Evolving State of Nursing"

Dr. Kelli Whittington, Assistant Professor in the School of Health Sciences at SIUC, will be the featured speaker at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting.

After providing a brief overview of changes in nursing education in the last 30 years, she will discuss the vision of nursing education and delivery in light of rapid changes affecting the profession.

Dr. Whittington directs the BSN program at SIUC, which gained approval from the Illinois State Board of Nursing to begin the first cohort of students in 2020. She has participated in all facets of nursing during her 30 year career, and her nursing history includes ICU, oncology, home health, and leadership.

The meeting, free and open to the public, will be held at Grace United Methodist Church at 220 N. Tower Road in Carbondale. Social distancing will be observed; masks are optional. There will be a brief social period (no refreshments) starting at 10a.m.
