Dr. Daniel F. Mahony, President of the Southern Illinois University System, will speak at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) Zoom meeting. Dr. Mahony began his tenure as the System’s 10th President in March of last year. From 2015 to 2020, he was President of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He had previously held faculty and administrative positions at Kent State University in Ohio and at the University of Louisville. Prior to his university appointments, Dr. Mahony worked in both public accounting and intercollegiate athletics. He earned a B.S. in accounting from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in sport management from West Virginia University, and a Ph.D. in sport management from Ohio State University. He is an active researcher in the areas of sport consumer behavior and intercollegiate athletics and he has published extensively. The meeting is free and open to the public.
