The final performance of The Varsity Center’s Classical Guitar Concert Series features “Duo Astoria, Guitar and Violin Together” with artists Bailey Salinero and Kevin Ginty on May 18. The series is sponsored by First Southern Bank. St. Louisans Bailey (violin) and Kevin (classical guitar) are outstanding performers, as solo artists and as a duo. The pair met and began playing duets while they were attending Florida State University in Tallahassee as music performance majors. They have performed extensively together and apart and have been hailed for their chemistry and virtuosity. Bailey is currently on the violin faculty of the Community Music School at Webster University and Kevin is the executive director of St. Louis Classical Guitar. Duo Astoria will present a program full of fire and romance titled “Spanish and Latin American Dances for Violin and Guitar.” Music spanning from tangos by Argentinian composer Piazzolla to Brazilian Bossa Nova by Celso Machado and much more will bring audiences to their feet. The evening is sure to be a great time for all. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Tickets are $12 in advance at thevarsitycenter.eventbrite.com or $14 at the door on the night of the performance. Student tickets are $8; children 10 and younger are admitted free.
