Phase 3 Allows Small Business Owners To Open New Store

The COVID-19 pandemic forced non-essential businesses to close until recently.

In early March Jimmy Stanton and his wife began the process of opening a new retail shop in the Wright Center selling CBD products, unique gifts and smoking accessories.

“We’re trying to bring a uniqueness back to Carbondale.”

Then the stay at home order postponed their opening.

Stanton says over the last two months they still had to pay rent and all the monthly bills associated with their business.

Without being able to make any sales, the Stanton’s weren’t sure if they could keep waiting to open if the stay at home order was extended through June.

“That was going to break us, I’ll be honest with you, being able to open on Friday and getting things start moving I think we’ll be ok, but yeah that was going to really, that was really going to hurt us if we weren’t able to open.”

Now that Illinois is in phase 3 of Restore Illinois, the Stanton’s are excited to finally open at the end of the week.
