Lack of Foot Traffic is Hurting Local Restaurants

www.explorecarbondale.com

While the state’s stay-at-home order appears to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the lack of foot traffic is hurting businesses.

“I don't know if we'll be able to stay afloat.“

Marilynn Martin, owner of Mary Lou’s and Crazy Joe’s Fish House says both restaurants are open for curbside but Martin says the transition has been hard.

“Not having the volume that we have had before, and then with the added cost of all the carry out stuff, you know, the containers and everything that you didn't have before.” Martin said.

But on the south side of town at Emma and Arnies Sandwiches, Owner Maria Lass says they are seeing a lot more deliveries.

“The community has really come together to support us and I'm grateful that we've been able to stay open.” Lass said.

But both restaurants say they are following the proper precautions to keep their employees and customers safe.  ?????
