A former SIU Saluki basketball player is still in the running to bring home the NCAA men's Division One national championship this weekend.

Aaron Cook transferred from SIU to Gonzaga on April 7, 2020.
The St. Louis native played in only six games as a senior during the 2019-2020 season in Carbondale after breaking his hand. Cook started in all but one game for the Salukis as a sophomore and a junior.

This season for Gonzaga, Cook is averaging just under 14 minutes of playing time per game and 4.5 points per game.

Gonzaga is two wins away from becoming the first team to finish the season undefeated since Indiana in 1976.

The Bulldogs play UCLA in a national semi-final game in Indianapolis on Saturday night.
