The SIU football program is bringing in its next class of recruits.
Wednesday is National Signing Day. Salukis Head Coach Nick Hill says this is one of his favorite days of the calendar year. But, another day excites him even more.
"My favorite day is when they get here in the summertime. They move in. You go out there and you start watching them workout. They put their head down. Then you know what you really have. It's a four or five year commitment of just developing and getting better."
Hill says the pandemic cut down on the amount of in-person contact he and his coaches could have with the recruits, so he was happy they were able to bring in players from programs they're familiar with, such as Jones High School in Orlando, where Hill once coached.
The classalso features two transfers, including James Ceasar, who played at SIU from 2016-2018 before transferring for the 2019 season.
