As the Carbondale Park District turns 80 this year, Executive Director Kathy Renfro is encouraging residents to celebrate, by committing to eight minutes of recreation or leisure for 80 days.
"So maybe its a quiet walk, maybe you're goinna do pushups for eight minutes, maybe you're gonna go fly your kite, or you have eight kites that you're gonna fly."
Renfro says the Park District will be rolling out other events in the coming weeks, and says it's important for the public to recognize the importance of public lands.
