Film Shot Mainly in Southern Illinois Will Debut in Region

Movie poster

A film shot mostly in southern Illinois is about to debut.

Dig Two Graves will make its regional premiere this weekend.

Jon Musgrave helped with location scouting and promotion. He says filming occurred all over the region.
"A lot of the outdoor scenes were at the tunnel at Tunnel Hill State Trail. Then at Ferne Clyffe State Park. The downtown scenes were both Marion and Vienna. The houses that belong to the characters one was down outside near Mill Creek one was outside down by Peaks on the Cash River. We had the teacher's house that was the one here in Marion."

He says it's a psychological, gothic thriller about the generational violence that plagues a small, backwoods town.

"It's set in the 1970's in the fictional town of Egypt, Illinois. It's about a girl who's experienced the loss of an older brother and what she would be willing to do, how far she'd be willing to go, to bring him back."

The film has won the Best Feature Film award at the Beaufort International Film Festival and the Director's Choice Award at the Sedona International Film Festival.

The regional premiere of the film will be Saturday night at 7:30 at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. Director Hunter Adams will be in attendance.
