Welcome to this edition of Southern Illinois Wonders!   Gary DeNeal is a publisher,  author, historian, and poet.    He’s known for his history of Charlie Birger as well as his magazine Springhouse

His son, songwriter  and musician Hugh DeNeal of The Woodbox Gang,  reflects on some of the favorites of his father’s poetry.

Musician and songwriter Hugh DeNeal of the Woodbox Gang.  He recited some favorites of his father’s poems.  Gary DeNeal is a poet, writer, and historian.  He is the publisher of Spring House Magazineand the Author of A Knight of Another Sort:Prohibition Days and Charlie Birger, published by SIU Press in 1998.
