People who want to shop and eat local can find out more about where their food comes from without leaving home. This year, Neighborhood Coop and Food Works are holding a virtual farm crawl of southern Illinois farms.

The event runs from October 5th through 9th. Each night, Zoom sessions will include discussions with local farmers and video tours of farms.

Food Works Executive Director Jennifer Paulson said people will still have the opportunity to ask questions and join the discussions.

“This is really meant to connect the community to the farmers in our area, that’s the whole point of the farm crawl,” she said.

Participants include Bauman Farms, Big Muddy Hogs, Countrysprout Organics, Envi Botanicals, Flora Bay Farm, Flyway Family Farm, Leslie Duram, Mallory Krieger, Rooted in Foods, Simple Gifts.

The farm crawl is free, but participants do need to register online. Food Works is also selling tee shirts during the event.
