The Illinois state capitol building is located in downtown Springfield. Opened in 1889, construction on the capitol began in 1869, taking 20 years to build at a cost of $4.5 million dollars.
CapitolView on WSIU TV is made possible by local program sponsors REDCO and Cape Air.

FEATURED GUESTS:
This week we’re joined by special guests Dan Petrella of the Chicago Tribune and John O’Connor of the Associated Press.

WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT:
While Labor Day is the traditional kickoff for campaign season, candidates have been on the trail for months already, trying to court voters for the November General Election. We explore this week’s issues facing those candidates and campaigns, including abortion rights, education, budget issues, and more.

Tune in or livestream Fri, Sept. 2 at 7:30pm on the WSIU stations: WSIU 8.1, WUSI 16.1, WSEC 14.1, WQEC 27.1 and WMEC 22.2 or access the WSIU local broadcast livestream online at pbs.org or via the PBS Video app. Enjoy an encore broadcast Sundays at 2:30pm.
