The Illinois state capitol building is located in downtown Springfield. Opened in 1889, construction on the capitol began in 1869, taking 20 years to build at a cost of $4.5 million dollars.

FEATURED GUESTS:
This week we’re joined by special guests Charlie Wheeler, Emeritus Director of the Public Affairs Reporting Program at University of Illinois-Springfield and Jerry Nowicki, Statehouse Bureau Chief for Capitol News Illinois.

WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT:
It’s State Fair week in Illinois – so campaigns and candidates are coming together to share their message and rally supporters. But with each party pointing at the other as being “too extreme,” what are voters in the middle to do? We’ll explore the issues, the campaign points, and more. Join us for the show Fri, Aug. 19 at 7:30pm.

CapitolView on WSIU TV is made possible by local program sponsors Cape Air & REDCO.
