A Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of child pornography.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department reports 27-year-old Jacob Higgins received three consecutive five-year sentences.

The sentence was a result of an investigation initiated on April 29 by the Detective Division of the Sheriff's Office. Its members are also part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
