Person shot in Carbondale and the suspect is still on the loose

The search is on for a suspect wanted in a shooting incident Friday afternoon in Carbondale.

At around 2:50 p.m. Carbondale Police officers responded to the 800 block of North Marion Street in reference to a gunshot victim.

They found the victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The Jackson County Ambulance Service took the victim by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. The victim was later transferred to a St. Louis area hospital for further treatment.

There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing with the assistance of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
