There will be a public Lunar Eclipse viewing event at SIU-C's Saluki stadium on Sunday May 15, 2022.

Families are invited to Saluki stadium this Sunday, May 15th 2022, for an evening of watching the lunar eclipse. Bob Baer is with the School of Physics and Applied Physics, and he is also the co-chair of the eclipse 2017 2024 steering committee. And he says, the eclipse will be striking due to the phase of the moon.

"The moon starts out being full that evening until it gets down to just a little sliver of a crescent moon. And that's really cool to watch because you can see different features of the moon."
Bob Baer

Baer says experts with telescopes will be on hand to help the public observe the event. Sunday night's event starts at 7:30.
